Another free pattern – 4th of 2014! A simple fingering weight hat that comes in many sizes. Great for when you want something to show off a fancy yarn, or use with a self-striping yarn to make a simple striped hat!
Sizes:
- Newborn
- 4 months – 1 year
- 1 year – 2 years
- Child
- Adult
- Adult Large
Materials:
- US size 3 – 3.25 mm, 16″ circular or DPNs
- Fingering weight yarn (100 – 215 yards)
- Stitch markers
Abbreviations:
- K = knit
- K2tog = knit two stitches together
- K2P2 = knit two stitches, then purl two stitches
Pattern:
- Cast On 80 (88, 96, 104, 112, 120).
- K2P2 for 6 rounds, (8 for adult/adult large).
- Knit for 5″ (5.5″, 6″, 6.5″, 7″, 7.5″) from cast on edge.
Decreasing:
- K6, K2tog, repeat around. 70 (77, 84, 91, 98, 105) stitches remain.
- Knit around.
- K5, K2tog, repeat around. 60 (66, 72, 78, 84, 90) stitches remain.
- Knit around.
- K4, K2tog, repeat around. 50 (55, 60, 70, 75, 80) stitches remain.
- Knit around.
- K3, K2tog, repeat around. 40 (44, 48, 52, 56, 60) stitches remain.
- Knit around.
- K2, K2tog, repeat around. 30 (33, 36, 39, 42, 45) stitches remain.
- Knit around.
- K1, K2tog, repeat around. 20 (22, 24, 26, 28, 30) stitches remain.
- Knit around.
- K2tog around. 10 (11, 12, 13, 14, 15) stitches remain.
- Cut yarn and pull through the remaining stitches. Draw closed, weave in any ends.
